Changes to Medicare Levy from 1 July

The Medicare Levy increased from 1.5% to 2% from 1 July 2014.

This rise contributes to funding the NDIS.
 
The levy applies to all Australian tax payers apart from those with specific exemptions.

This additional tax applies to income earners above the current threshold of $88,000 who do not hold private health insurance.
