COST OF LIVING UP. WAGES DOWN.
As the cost of living bites, the second-hand economy is booming and many Australians are coming to it for the first time. ... See MoreSee Less
Celine is on a middle-class combined income. So why is she haggling over second-hand clothes?
As cost of living bites, more Australians are seeking second-hand bargains — but some would prefer you kept that a secret.- Likes: 18

Why is buying second hand shameful? Repurposing, recycling, reusing items which have already contributed to their ecological footprint is a way to reduce waste and unnecessary consumption. Constant needing the ‘new’ is a very big part of the problem with our throwaway economy.
I have always bought second hand clothes. Only buy new when on clearance sale.Since my kids were babies. Made my own cakes cookies. Lunch made for school and myself for work.
And what’s wrong with second hand goods? I’m a regular at Salvos to buy books but am amazed at the quality of clothing and kitchenware on the shelves
Omg , there’s nothing shameful in buying second hand . I’m equally at home shopping in Vinnies , Anglicare , Kmart or DJs for a special occasion , and have lived that way for years. My husband jokes that Ive saved him a fortune over the years by picking up near new furniture from council clean ups as well. Admittedly, I am lucky to have a good job; but it’s just the way Ive been brought up, and makes economic and environmental sense to me.

WHERE ARE THE SCHOOLS PROMISED IN 2018?
In Tuesday’s budget, the government allocated $1.6 billion to deliver 23 new and upgraded schools but half a dozen new public schools that were announced in 2018 are yet to start construction.
Pressure on packed classrooms in Sydney’s booming north and south-west is pushing enrolments well beyond capacity. ... See MoreSee Less
Crowded classes: Schools promised four years ago yet to start construction
The NSW government four years ago announced that six new schools would be built. To date, none have moved beyond the planning stage.Liberals say one thing then do the opposite.

Nicole Jess on Union Fines ... See MoreSee Less
They’re a bunch of self serving leeches these politicians, they have no idea what the front line staff have to put up with. We are heading down the path of Canada where we will all be ruled with an iron fist by the government.
What else can you expect from such a government, they would kill their own mother if it suited yhem
This is typical of a right or far right government attitude, The love to keep working class people with no rights to defend or protest for better living standards. But yes politicians make their own working rights to suit themselves with lavish conditions, obscene wages, bonuses and perks galore, they are the one they really abuse the system. They are not there to help the population they are there to make themselves rich

NSW GOVERNMENT TO INCREASE FINES ON STRIKING UNIONS
The government’s new policy of increased penalties, signed off in an emergency cabinet meeting on Wednesday afternoon, would slap the PSA, or any other union, with a fine of up to $55,000 for the first day of any industrial action launched in defiance of an Industrial Relations Commission (IRC) ruling.
Repeat actions would face fines of up to $110,000 for the first day of ignoring an IRC ruling, and then up to $55,000 for subsequent days.
Under international law, the right to strike is recognised as a fundamental human right.
The United Nations declared "strike action to be a right" and "one of the principal means by which workers and their associations may legitimately promote and defend their economic and social interests".

Vote the baskets out
How about "massively increasing" fines for employers who systematically indulge in wage theft. Usually from their non unionised, casual workforce. Or those at the bottom of the food chain.
past time for the NSW government to go
A massive part of the problem is that it is in the DNA of all Liberal MPs and then reinforced through the private school system, that the public service is not required. Due to the lack of respect for public service, they think of those in the service more as public slaves rather than public servants. Taking away the right to strike is a prime example of this. We cannot change their DNA. We cannot re-educate them from their brain washing. What we can do is throw them out of office, before they can absolutely destroy what is little left of the NSW Public Service.
Enjoy your time in office Mr Perrotet , next election, you are goneskies
Got a feeling you might be thrown out at the next election. Bring it on.
There are approximately 440,000 government employees. What percentage of them voted for the Coalition at the last state election? Let's say 25%. It's probably higher but let's say 110,000 NSW Government employees voted for the Liberal-National Coalition in 2019. How many of those 110,000 employees will vote for an employer that cuts their wages and refuses to guarantee job security? Public Sector workers are in a unique position of being the only group of workers able to vote to keep their current employer or choose a new one. Of the 110,000 NSW government employees - plus their families - who voted for the Liberals or Nationals at the last state election, it only needs 2 in 10 to vote differently in March 2023 and it's all over for Dominic Perrottet, Matt Keane and this NSW Liberal-National Government.
The government has changed its spots in the last few weeks following federal election however the decision to get rid of so many so-called back room jobs will mean more work for front line or private hire companies don’t go on strike just say no to overtime for a couple of weeks if they force people to work due to staff shortage say I am fatigued and need rest it is good enough for the government the have 61 of 62 members having dual roles so they get paid salary plus additional salary giving them double income for on a little extra work
He must have Cambell Newman as a consultant!
When is the next State election?
So if they fine us enough we can basically pay for our own pay rise? I say all departments strike on the same day!
As we the people are the employer of MP's then we should introduce fines for poor standards of work, corruption and misappropriation of public funds on the MP's of a years salary including the amount they have misappropriated. to be returned. Fair day's Work for a fair day's pay.
A right proper “W” anchor.

So we have no rights
I see many comments about the government, my question is ,,,,, What is the PSA stance on this… do you still support strike action or are we all going to be puppets or follow like sheep.
