Public sector revamp in wake of the state election
There has been an organisational reshuffle within the public sector following the NSW election.
The changes are detailed in the Administrative Arrangements (Administrative Changes – Public Service Agencies) Order 2015.
Some of the major changes in brief:
- The abolition of the Department of Trade and Investment, Regional Infrastructure and Services and the establishment of the Department of Industry, Skills and Regional Development
- The abolition of The Ministry for Police and Emergency Services with staff shifting to the Department of Justice
- The Department of Family and Community Services changes name to the Department of Communities
- The Office of Communities, with the exception of the Office of Aboriginal Affairs, moves from the Department of Education and Communities to the new Department of Communities
- The Department of Education and Communities changes name to the Department of Education
- The Office of Veterans’ Affairs transfers from the Department of Premier and Cabinet to the Department of Justice
- Women NSW transfers from the Department of Family and Community Services to the Ministry of Health
- The Office of Finance and Services changes name to the Department of Finance, Services and Innovation
- Staff employed in the Sydney Harbour Foreshore Authority transfer to the Department of Finance, Services and Innovation.
