NSW Police Force Special Constables Award update
NSW Police Force Special Constables Award update – September 2016 (PDF version)
In the August bulletin to PSA members HERE, your Union advised members that we were waiting on a response from NSW Police (NSWP) to provide advice and indicate when negotiations for your new Crown Employees (NSW Police Force Special Constables [Security]) Award could be expected to commence.
As no response has been received in reply to our request, the Association has now asked that a meeting be facilitated between your bargaining team representatives and NSW Police within 14 days.
Should this not occur, we have notified the department of our intention to file the new award with the Industrial Relations Commission of NSW.
PSA will keep members informed on the progress of this important issue and will continue to support your delegates and bargaining team members as we seek to improve upon your existing entitlements.
WHS update – uniform
Members may be aware from previous bulletins that PSA delegates and staff have approached NSWP over the last twelve months regarding various matters of concern to members, including ensuring that Active Armed Offender training would also be provided to Special Constables (Security).
During a number of meetings including the Work Health & Safety (WHS) Consultative Committee, approval was sought to allow members to wear cargo pants whilst rostered on Monday to Friday dayshifts.
This was in addition to the existing approval that allowed for cargo pants to be worn for weekend and nightshifts.
We are pleased to advise that a recent decision by management has now endorsed this request, with the exception of staff performing duty at NSW Parliament House.
Please provide any feedback to your PSA delegates on this or other WHS or industrial matters and we will continue to work with your delegates to advocate for further positive results.
