Also, a number of resolutions regarding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people were passed at the ACTU Congress in Melbourne this year:

• Federal funding cuts to indigenous programs and the forced closure of Western Australian Aboriginal communities

• Land Tenure

• Realising rights: changing the frame

The ACTU Congress is where all unions in Australia come together and make decisions.

I had the privilege of speaking to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Policy at Congress as a PSA representative.

Thanks to Allen Hicks (ETU) and Michael O’Connor (CFMEU) for their strong support in passing the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Policy, which will guide our work for the next three years.
