Electoral Officers Additional hour payments
Electoral Officers additional hour payments – March 2017 (PDF version)
The PSA has been advised by our members in the Electorate Office that delays of payments of Short Term Relief (STR) and Additional Temporary Relief (ATR) have had a significant impact upon them. We raised this issue at the most recent Joint Consultative Committee meeting.
The PSA and delegates provided several examples of the impact of the current system and provided some possible solutions (including delegation for approvals being granted to the SEO). Whilst management acknowledged the problem, it did not agree with that solution and was much guided and affected by past situations, which had led to investigations relating to entitlements.
It was agreed the matter of delays was serious and required more consideration. Outcomes from the meeting were:
- Helen Minnican, Clerk of the Legislative Assembly advised she welcomed direct contact from Electoral Officers suffering delays. She would, where possible, endeavour to expedite the resolution of delays as they were brought to her attention.
- Julie Langsworth asked us to provide various examples of situations where delays have occurred. The provision of this information should enable further understanding and improvements. Please provide this information to Tom Harris-Brassil,
- In regard to STR, management has committed to looking at other ways of ascertaining that leave has been taken which should account for a significant portion of the problem.
The discussion also touched on technology being used and took on board some suggestions provided by the PSA.
We welcome further suggestions from members and will continue to progress it with management.
