Public Works transformation PSA member bulletin
Public Works Transformation PSA member bulletin June 2015 (PDF version)
The PSA and delegates from NSW Public Works attended a meeting on Friday 12 June 2015 with management. The meeting largely confirmed advice given in the media release and provided to staff.
The PSA understands:
- The Government doesn’t want Public Works to compete with the private sector.
- They know what they do want Public Works to do, including provision of specialised services. However, it is early days and details on how the business achieves this haven’t been fleshed-out yet.
- The transformation will occur over a period of up to two years. Throughout this period Management will encourage and support staff to develop capabilities for the new ‘vision’.
- A change management plan will be developed but it is unlikely to be published in the next three to six months.
PSA have asked to be brought into proper consultation as early as possible. Public Works have committed to consultation with the PSA throughout the transformation.
The PSA will focus on preserving members’ jobs and entitlements. We will also be providing support to Public Works to encourage retention of as many business areas as possible.
The PSA will continue to keep members briefed and campaign around member issues.
