Department of Creative Industries, Tourism, Hospitality and Sport – industrial update

The PSA and the Department of Creative Industries, Tourism, Hospitality and Sport, including Create NSW representatives have been meeting fortnightly since the announcement of the draft change proposal on 23 June 2025.

PSA WINS

With the great advocacy of PSA delegates, the message and concerns from members has resulted in improvements in consultation.  This includes the recent updated FAQ’s on the proposed process for filling of non-executive roles and management team workshops, including an extension of the feedback period to 28 July.

Key Timeline – Revised

Consultation period 23 June to 28 July (5pm)*

Consider & review feedback 29 July to 08 August

Change outcomes announced 19 August

Expression of interest period 20 August to 04 September (non-PSSE) / 20 August to 27 August (PSSE)

Proposed go-live of new structure 06 October

*The consultation period has been extended by one week, to 28 July, to allow additional reflection time following leadership workshops and team conversations.

Current update

According to the department at last Wednesday’s 17 July meeting, the one area that did not receive a satisfactory ‘update’ via the director workshops is Create Infrastructure which means affected members do not have essential new information to consider until further feedback for staff to occurs.  In fact, the PSA on Friday 18 July has been advised that a town hall meeting of Create NSW staff will occur on Tuesday 22 July at 11.30am.  Members should have received an email today with the meeting details.

PSA officers will be participating.  The Executive Director will be addressing staff in relation to the current status of the restructure proposal.

Unfortunately, this only allows a matter of days after this town hall meeting for staff to consider what is presented, and to respond.  Whilst the end date for feedback is by close of business 28 July, the PSA will be consulting with management right through until the new structure is proposed to be finalised (currently proposed for 6 October 2025).

If members have any new or unaddressed issues please forward to or 1800772679 by close of business on 25 July.  Feel free to contact your PSA delegates and PSA industrial team for ongoing advice or support.
