Earlier this year, over 750 schools were set to receive an increase in General Assistant (GA) staffing as part of a new allocation methodology aimed at addressing workload concerns and better aligning GA resources with school needs.
However, recent feedback has highlighted several issues:
- Many GAs are unaware if their school received an increase, relying on leadership for updates.
- Additional hours are not consistently offered to existing part-time GAs.
- In some cases, funding is being used for purposes other than GA entitlements.
These concerns have been raised directly with the Department, the PSA is concerned that the implementation of the increases have undermined the intent of the changes. |
