About Legal Aid NSW Departmental Committee

The PSA Departmental Committee is a democratically elected committee of union members at Legal Aid NSW. Elections for the committee are held every two years and each year the committee elects a sub-committee to deal with issues between meetings.

The PSA Departmental Committee meets every two months at Head Office, generally on a Thursday between 1pm and 4pm.

The committee develops positions on issues affecting PSA members. It is an important advisory body to the representatives to the Legal Aid NSW Peak Consultative Committee and the PSA governing body, Central Council.

PSA Departmental committee members are released from duty to attend these meetings which are planned 12 months in advance at the beginning of each year.
