Digital Technology Services restructure update – July 2017 (PDF version)

The DTS dispute was relisted in the Industrial Relations Commission on 30 June 2017 after the PSA raised concerns about the amended Review Process.

The PSA also raised concerns about workplace culture and lack of consultation in relation to pending restructures.

After discussion with both parties, the IRC made the following decisions:

  • the current Review Process was fair and was designed to provide staff with maximum opportunity to obtain on-going employment
  • the Review Process was an additional process devised to ensure fairness to staff
  • staff should be encouraged to participate in the Review Process.

The Commission also recommended Justice re-instigate the Joint Consultative Committee process as soon as possible to ensure on going consultation in the workplace.

The PSA would also like to clarify that it continues to oppose the use of contractors on selection panels. The PSA notes Justice has agreed to discontinue the use of contractors on selection panels during recruitment.

The PSA thanks members for their continuing engagement in the matter and will work to protect members’ interests in DTS.
