Housing Services Arrears Improvement Program – dispute notified
The PSA became aware that a presentation was distributed to staff yesterday afternoon in some districts outlining the implementation of an Arrears Improvement Program that seeks staff feedback, comments and concerns today Friday 27 June with mandatory training to commence on Monday 30 June 2025.
Concerns have already been raised about a number of issues including:
- How will staff with already unmanageable workloads undertake training with little to no notice?
- How can staff properly provide feedback in one day?
- How long are the training sessions, how many training sessions are there?
- How can the department expect staff to attend check-ins of 2 to 3 minutes and be expected to cover topics such as work, well being and performance?
- Will the proposed check-ins be used to punish overworked staff for perceived performance issues?
- Will this require an increase in home visits to address arrears concerns and how will staff be able to fit this additional time into their already busy work schedule?
- How will team leaders and senior CSO’s achieve the “perfect” week by pushing more responsibility onto them without the department freeing up time for them to do so?
- Why does the presentation make provision for a “dedicated staff member” to be responsible for “set up”, “huddles” and “check-ins” when the presentation says that is the responsibility of the team leaders and seniors? Is the department already planning on dumping even more work on other staff?
- What steps have the department taken to free up time for team leaders (or other “dedicated staff”) to spend a minimum of two and a half hours each week on huddles?
- What staff have access to the Coaching Action Tracker? How will your privacy be protected? Will the tracker be used to judge your performance and be used as a disciplinary tool?
ACTION TAKEN
The PSA has advised the department that we are in dispute over this matter.
We have sought an assurance that the Arrears Improvement Program will NOT be implemented until this dispute is resolved.
