Prisons at breaking point
As members are aware, Corrective Services NSW (CSNSW) is at the point where there are no more beds available to house the ever increasing inmate population.
Late last year, PSA General Secretary Anne Gardiner wrote to the Premier with her grave concerns about the failure to plan for increasing numbers.

Following several meetings with PSA delegates and staff, Commissioner Peter Severin wrote to the PSA on 28 January.

Commissioner Severin has now responded and agreed to a motion passed by the POVB Executive requesting an extraordinary meeting of the POVB Management Committee in order to progress matters including workers compensation issues.
The meeting of the POVB Management Committee will be held at Long Bay tomorrow, Tuesday 3 February.
Following gratuitous comments on Friday about prison overcrowding from Attorney General Brad Hazzard, the PSA put out a media release which has resulted in several radio interviews highlighting the risk to safety by prison overcrowding.
