RMS transfer to Service NSW – February 2016 (PDF version)

As you may remember from 2013, the PSA ran a case for RMS, NSW Fair Trading and NSW Department of Justice members whose positions were being transferred to Service NSW.

As a consequence of that case, the PSA obtained an outcome from Justice Walton’s recommendation. The details are in the bulletin. See the link HERE

Part of this process involves assisted review appeals, which enable members to appeal unsuccessful outcomes to the NSW Industrial Relations Commission.

This process has been followed and the PSA has helped members with assisted review appeals, where a member applied for a role in Service NSW.
If members wish to work for Service NSW they need to apply. If they wish to appeal and seek our assistance, they need to advise the Member Support Centre on 1300 772 679.

Since the assisted reviews process commenced, there have been a significant number of successful appeals. There have also been a number of unsuccessful appeals, where the IRC has only considered process and, in our view, not the merit of the application.

The PSA has sought legal advice regarding the ability to appeal outcomes from assisted review appeals. We will advise members once we have reviewed the advice.
