In 2024, the PSA’s achievements included:

• Negotiating a three-year pay deal for School Administrative and Support Staff for the first time in years with a Cost of Living Allowance if the economic situation changes in 2025 or 2026, freeing up union staff to focus on other major issues facing school members
• Finalisation of Tranche 1 of the Temporary Workforce Transfer (TWT) which resulted in more than 8000 staff being made permanent, a long standing campaign of the PSA
• Success in our long standing push for simplification of mandatory training
• Winning backpay for various PSA members not being paid in the correct classification, with the largest payment being almost $6000
• Successfully supporting members through workplace safety issues leading to significant changes in their work environments in relation to violence, mould and school buildings.

Some of the issues and priorities we will be working on this year are:

• Highlighting the inadequacy of the Staffing Formula and campaigning for increases across all classifications
• Continuing to support members to log every incident and fighting for a safer workplace, particularly around occupational violence
• Continuing to highlight the workload and work intensification issues that are made worse by the staffing formula
• Campaigning for a genuine pathway to permanency for Long Term Temporary employees that isn’t limited to one off conversion projects
• Advocating for a return to face to face training and conferences for all classifications.
