Initial reclassification and increment changes

How closely do you look at your pay slip? When traveling around Community Services sites, Delegates and Members have raised several questions surrounding increments and their interaction with the agreement gained by the PSA reclassifying Grade 3 Caseworkers to Grade 4.

Discussions on new Award and reclassification for all Caseworkers continuing

It is important to remember that the Determination (the formal name for the agreement) was the immediate short-term reclassification, which aims to increase recruitment of caseworkers.  The Child Protection Award discussions will be the process for a more extensive reclassification for Caseworkers to address retention, as well as workload.

A note on Terminology

Sometimes Caseworker increments are described in terms of “Grades”, sometimes as “Levels”. This is due to the Caseworkers being on the Administrative and Clerical (A&C) pay scale, something the PSA is seeking to change with the new Child Protection Award.  Please see the below table for reference and assistance.

Delegate Training

We had a lot of interest at the end of last year from members interested in enrolling in our Role of the Delegate training but who were unable to attend due to clashes. The PSA will hold further training where we have the numbers, we are also able to hold training in the regions, again subject to numbers. Email to register your interest in participating in delegate training and we will follow up with you once we’ve scheduled our next session.
