PSA membership exceeds 32,000 |

Maternity leave in the NSW public service is extended to unmarried women and temporary employees. |
1972 |
The equal pay principle is extended to include the principle of equal pay for work of equal value. |
1973 |
The Women’s Auxiliary is renamed Women’s Council. |
1974 |
Separate eligibility lists for men and women in the NSW public service are abolished. |
1975 |
The PSA wins the Equal Pay Case for Female Salaried Officers employed by the Department of Motor Transport. |
1976 |
State Public Services Federation (SPSF) is established to give state PSAs across Australia a national voice. |
