Are you a Long Term Temp? Find out what the PSA can do for you about conversion and severance pay
PLEASE PASS ON TO YOUR SAS STAFF COLLEAGUES INCLUDING ALL SLSOs
What does the PSA do for Long Term Temp members?
If you have been on a Long term temporary contract for more than 12 months and you are interested in permanency, the PSA can provide you confidential advice so that you can understand how the process works and, if you meet the criteria, we can assist you to request conversion.
If your contract has not been renewed for 2022, we can provide you with confidential advice on your entitlements.
If you have worked as an LTT for three or more years, the PSA can negotiate for you to get severance pay and in some cases a new short term or long term temp contract at another school.
The PSA can only act on behalf of members. Encourage your colleagues to join now and make sure they have the union on their side in the lead up to Christmas.
How to express interest in conversion – non member
The first step is to Join the PSA.
The SASS Recruitment Procedure allows eligible staff to be able to be converted to full or part permanency, if your Principal supports you and you meet certain criteria. If you have been employed continuously for 12 months or more, you may be eligible for conversion and the PSA can support you through the process once you are a member.
Once you have joined, contact the PSA via our Member Support Centre on 1300 772 679 or by emailing the Schools Team at for your copy of the resources.
