Department of Premier and Cabinet – Vaccination Direction

Your PSA representatives attended one of the two staff Q&A Town Hall sessions run by DPC People & Culture around the Secretary’s direction for Phase 1 staff to be vaccinated against COVID-19.

Following the release of the Premier’s Circular which can be viewed HERE branches in DPC undertook their own Risk Assessment to determine roles where the risk was high enough to require a direction for staff to be vaccinated.

Those in Phase One who are unable to meet the required vaccination status by having your first dose by 17 November 2021 are strongly encouraged to engage with your employer as to the alternative pathways that may be available for you. PSA members are also asked to let the PSA know so that we can assist you. Your union remains committed to support members through both individual and collective concerns.

The PSA questioned the department’s reasoning for holding onto employees’ vaccination status and/ or other related medical information, DPC advised this information will be held exclusively in People & Culture at DPC to ensure effective future management of the virus within the Department and assure staff they sought appropriate legal advice regarding their privacy obligations. PSA however remains unconvinced that the Department should be storing this information and will engage with them further on this.

Phase Two Risk Assessment Consultation

If you are still working from home, you are likely in Phase Two. The Department has advised that it will be undertaking risk assessments for roles in Phase Two in due course and we expect to have more information to update you on soon.

Department of Premier and Cabinet Covid-19 Vaccination Policy

The above policy is also currently out for consultation until the end of next week and is available on your Intranet. As we expect to be living with Covid-19 for some time, we value your thoughts on getting this DPC Covid-19 Vaccination Policy right.
