Department of Creative Industries, Tourism, Hospitality and Sport: Draft Flexible Working Policy

On 27 September the Department of Creative Industries, Tourism, Hospitality and Sport (DCITHS) wrote to the PSA advising it intended to commence consultation with staff on 14 October for a revised Flexible Working Policy.

This follows a direction from the Premier in August that employees should work primarily from an approved workplace unless a flexible working arrangement has been approved.

Key points

Following a recent meeting with the Department, advice given is that the purpose of the Flexible Working Policy is intended to:

  1. allow staff to submit flexible working arrangement requests to balance work and personal commitments while still meeting the needs of the Department.
  2. the policy outlines the principles for implementing flexible working arrangements, ensuring they are equitable, transparent, and aligned with DCITHS obligations under Work Health and Safety (WHS) legislation, Gender Equality principles, and the Workplace Gender Equality Act (WGEA).

The PSA requests that members review the policy documents HERE and HERE and forward any issues or concerns to PSA by close of business 6 November 2024. Please quote call number 227712.

The PSA will further consult with the Department to ensure all concerns are addressed.
