PSA concerned about the implementation of the plan to manage flex time

You would have seen from previous bulletins that the PSA is working with Transport for NSW (TfNSW) to manage the hefty number of hours of work in the form of flex, which members are not being compensated for.

At the working groups, TfNSW has made it clear that the intention is not for managers only to tell or direct employees to work fewer hours.  The intention was for managers to engage with employees about their workload and understand the hours being worked to see if hours could be reduced whilst still meeting the workload put on the employee.

It is disappointing that we have received reports that managers are not engaging in the manner that has been intended.  Rather, some managers are sending blanket emails asking employees to reduce their hours without any engagement about workload and if this is even possible.

If you have a manager who is merely seeking for you to reduce your hours without any discussion about your workload and the viability of this request, please get in touch with the PSA on 1300 772 679, or you can email in the subject: TfNSW Flex Call No 193610
