PSA stop-work notice: Youth Justice Workers set to take action over ongoing payroll issues
The PSA’s peak Youth Justice Departmental Committee has unanimously resolved to commence a campaign of industrial action in response to the agency’s refusal to fix a payroll system that routinely leaves Youth Justice staff out of pocket.
The Committee’s decision has not been taken lightly and comes after many months of continued pay concerns being brought forward by the membership.
Youth Justice staff have a right to be paid on time and correctly. We are not prepared to accept a second-rate system any longer and we are sick of talking about it.
It’s time to act. It’s time to act!
Details
All members of the PSA on shift at Acmena, Riverina, Cobham and Frank Baxter Youth Justice centres are directed to attend a stop-work meeting:
Date Wednesday 27 August 2025
Time 1:00pm-3:00pm
The above timeslot has been chosen so that only an hour of industrial action is taken by each line across the shift changeover.
Members at other centres are encouraged to continue looking out for communications from the PSA in the event this action is expanded.
Only members of the PSA are protected in taking Industrial Action by Clause 64 of the Crown Employees (Public Service Conditions of Employment) Award 2009, which states that “There will be no victimisation of staff members prior to, during or following industrial action”.
For further information please talk to your workplace delegate. Alternatively you can contact your Industrial Officer, Ben James, on 1800 772 679.
