Safework: over 500 submissions on the restructure proposal
PSA staff and delegates from the Safework Inspectors Vocational Advisory Group met with management on 25 July 20204 for the weekly consultation meeting in relation to the SafeWork restructure.
PSA will continue to receive the updated FAQs as they are distributed to staff.
Over 500 submissions have been received on the proposal. PSA congratulates members on engaging with this restructure and making management aware of your concerns.
We were advised that there were a lot of competing views. Management is looking at what will lead to the best outcomes.
The PSA will be given further information in relation to the impact to Senior Executive Band roles. Your delegates sought further information about how the Team Coordinator (TC) roles will be filled.
It was confirmed that matching of ‘like for like’ will be considered at stage three of the implementation process. Some TC positions might be filled by impacted staff, for example state coordinators. The remaining available positions will then be open to all during stage four recruitment. Whilst the position title is Team Coordinator, the proposed role description is new. The team coordinator is not seen as an administrative role but as an Inspector role and is seen as a career progression pathway for Inspectors who want also to be people leaders.
PSA thanks members for your engagement and confirms that we have now submitted your feedback. We will continue meeting weekly with management as the restructure progresses and will also raise your concerns at the new Consultative Sub-Committee, the first meeting of which will be 13 August 2024.
