Schools: An update on your pay rise
Since members accepted the salaries deal, the PSA has been hard at work negotiating the finer details of the Crown Employees (School Administrative and Support Staff) Award with the Department to lodge a joint application to the Industrial Relations Commission (IRC).
As members would understand, the IRC has had many Awards lodged during this time which has slowed the process. However, it has now made the SASS Award which will allow EdConnect to get on with paying members their new rates, along with all back payments.
General Secretary, Stewart Little, spoke to the Government and confirmed that Agencies were notified of the new salaries rates at the time members voted for the offer. Therefore, once the Awards are signed off, they will be in a position to pay the increases quickly.
PSA pursues payment of leave loading and back pay separately
In addition, your PSA representatives raised with senior industrial relations staff the importance of ensuring back pay and leave loading payments be paid in two separate pay weeks.
The Department has now confirmed that back pays will be made in a separate payment to leave loading where applicable to ensure that members don’t lose a larger proportion of their extra payments through higher tax rates.
We are pleased that the concerns raised by the union about this important issue for our members have been taken on board.
Enjoy your PSA-won pay rise!
