Schools SAS and GAs performance development – 10 February 2017 (PDF Version)
Members were advised in November that, following consultation with members and delegates, bans placed on participation in the Performance and Development project had been lifted. View the bulletin HERE
The Department of Education (DoE) is now implementing Performance and Development beginning in 2017, with the roll out of training and e-learning.
Following the lifting of the bans, PSA representatives met with the DoE on 28 November and 13 December 2016 to continue consultation. Further regular meetings have been scheduled prior to and throughout the implementation period.
Consultation with the DoE is continuing on key industrial concerns identified by members such as:
- impact on workload for SAS staff
- responsibility of PDP Supervisor
The PSA has been consulted on most points raised in the information distributed by the DoE in Schoo1Biz on 3 February 2017, which outlines the next steps in implementation.
However, the PSA does not believe its concerns about the role of SAS staff in relation to the role of PDP Supervisor is being adequately addressed.
General Assistants have concerns about how they access and participate in e-learning. The PSA is seeking an urgent meeting with the department to discuss these issues.
The PSAs position is that relevant and agreed training or e-learning should occur before implementation and members should not be coerced into participating until this has been delivered.
Please bring this bulletin to your Principal’s attention. Members should contact the PSA if any problems or issues arise. The dedicated PSA schools email is:
