Service NSW: PSA update
Happy New Year!
2025 was a busy year for your union, the Public Service Association, with 2026 looking to be another active year for the PSA across Service NSW.
We would like to provide you with an update on what your union is doing 2026.
Unpaid overtime
Service NSW met with the PSA on 7 November 2025 to discuss concerns raised by members about unpaid overtime and the use of “exceptions”. The PSA continues to pursue this issue on your behalf.
In the meantime, we strongly encourage members to continue recording all overtime worked, including overtime of less than eight minutes, to ensure there is a clear and accurate record of hours worked.
St Marys driver/tester WHS dispute
In 2025 your union wrote to Service NSW twice regarding WHS issues at the St Marys driver testing area. To date, Service NSW has not responded. As a result, the PSA has lodged a dispute with the Industrial Relations Commission (IRC). The matter is listed for hearing at 2.00pm on Tuesday, 20 January 2026.
Occupational violence
The Public Service Association continues to hold Service NSW to account and to advocate for the health, safety and wellbeing of our members. Following the Occupational Violence Survey conducted in October 2025, the PSA identified serious work health and safety (WHS) concerns. In 2025 the union has met a number of times as a result of the survey results. In 2026 we will continue to campaign for a safer workplace for Service NSW members.
If you would like a PSA representative to come to your workplace to discuss these or other issues please contact PSA Organiser, Trina Leask .
