Sexual Harassment in Australian Workplaces survey

Sexual harassment survey bulletin – October 2018 (PDF version)

The Australian Human Rights Commission has announced a national inquiry into sexual harassment in Australian workplaces. The PSA CPSU NSW encourages all members to participate in the ACTU survey below, which will inform the ACTU submission and your union’s national union submission.

Many of us have experienced being sexually harassed at work. It’s shocking and hard to deal with.

The Australian Human Rights Commission estimates one in three people in the last five years have experienced sexual harassment at work.

Everyone should be able to go to work in a safe environment, free of harassment. To achieve this we need to keep exposing what’s happening in workplaces so our lawmakers get the full picture.

The Australian Human Rights Commission inquiry into sexual harassment in Australian workplaces will shine much needed light on a broken system which is failing workers.

We need new approaches to this endemic problem.

Australian Unions will make a submission to the sexual harassment inquiry on behalf of all working people, and we need to hear from you and your workmates so that we can include as many real life experiences as possible.

When taking the survey, we ask all PSA and CPSU NSW members to tick their Union as “CPSU – State” or in ”other” write “PSA NSW”.

If you have personally experienced or witnessed sexual harassment at work, we want to hear from you.

Your personal details will be kept completely confidential and we won’t include your story in our submission without contacting you.

Once you have completed the survey, ask your workmates to do it too. It takes less than 10 minutes and the information you share will help us present a fuller picture of what is happening in our workplaces every day.

Sexual harassment at work needs to stop, and it needs to stop with us.

Take the survey today.

If you have experienced sexual assault or sexual harassment and feel you would like to speak to someone for support or information call 1800 RESPECT (ph: 1800 737 732) 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
