Stop the NSW Government cutting mental health support for injured workers

The NSW workers compensation system is failing injured workers — and now the Government wants to make it worse by cutting access to vital mental health services.

A recent Parliamentary Inquiry confirmed what we all know: the proposed reforms, including changes to Whole Person Impairment (WPI) thresholds, will leave injured workers behind when they need support the most.

Both the government’s plan to raise the WPI threshold and the opposition’s proposal that restricts compensation for workers facing sexual harassment, bullying, or excessive workloads will deny fair support and compensation to many injured workers.

But there is a better way.

Instead of forcing injured workers to bear the cost of fixing the scheme, we need stronger laws to hold insurance companies accountable. We must prioritise early treatment, long-term care, and real support for injured workers.

Combined unions in NSW, led by Unions NSW, is seeking your help. Contact your local MP, Upper House members, and opposition spokespeople. Urge them to vote to hold insurers accountable and protect access to necessary care for seriously injured workers.

Take action today—use the link found HERE to mail your MP.

Together, we can defend fair workers compensation and mental health support for all injured workers in NSW.
