Undervalued, Understaffed, Underpaid: Important Campaign Updates
The PSA – your Union, provides the following update and important information about the pay negotiations and current industrial action.
PSA Formalises offer with State Government
Following an overwhelming vote from our Sheriff’s Officer members in favour of accepting the government’s proposed grade reclassification and pay increase, the PSA has formally signed the agreement.
We expect implementation of the full pay rise to be done as soon as possible and will provide timeframe updates from DCJ payroll as soon as they become available.
Role Description Consultation
The PSA will engage in consultations with the Sheriff’s Office regarding proposed role descriptions. To address recent concerns:
- No role description changes were included in the Government’s offer.
- The PSA was not informed of any proposed changes before the offer was put to ballot.
- All potential changes will only be implemented following thorough consultation.
- Proposed changes are not linked to the accepted offer.
The PSA opposes any changes relying on the Mercer report without full access to the report’s contents.
It is important to note that the PSA has already secured important commitments, such as guarantees that members will not be required to re-apply for their roles, and transfer at grade.
Industrial Action Update
Given the government’s offer and the overwhelming member support (91% voting yes), Sheriff’s Officers Vocational Branch Advisory Group (SOVBAG) has resolved to rescind all Industrial Action effective from Monday.
All members are directed to cease all Industrial Action from
Monday, 21 October 2024
Please note that continued action after this date will not be protected.
Looking Ahead
Key upcoming dates:
- SOVBAG committee meeting: Tuesday, 12 November 2024.
- Joint Consultative Committee (JCC): Thursday, 28 November 2024.
SOVBAG will be meeting to develop a fresh agenda for the New Year to build on our recent successes.
Thank you once again for your strength and commitment.
