You’re invited! Union Pride event
Unions NSW is holding a Celebration on Thursday 13 July. This is to commemorate the union movement winning the “Spirit of 1978 Mardi Gras Community Award” for its Mardi Gras float held during World Pride this year.
The event also marks the anniversary of the 1973 “Pink Bans”, when the Builders Labourers Federation went on strike to support Jeremy Fisher, a gay man kicked out of his accommodation due to his sexuality. You can read more about this HERE.
Equality is, and always will be union business. Because of this, all PSA members who are part of the LGBTQIA+ community, and their allies, are invited to celebrate! There will be food, drinks and speakers from the labour movement.
