Since 11 September 2024, all members employed as fisheries officers have been directed to cease compliance inspections (without direct police assistance) of the following activities:

1. All fisheries officer members working in a coastal area, inspections of estuary trawlers and offshore trawlers outside of daylight hours, and the inspection of ocean hauling and estuary hauling operations outside of daylight hours.
2. All fisheries officer members working in an inland area, inspection of all Inland commercial fishing operations outside of daylight hours.

To clarify these work bans, inspections of trawlers at port are not subject to the bans and may continue to be performed.
