Transport for NSW – Future Workplaces Update

Transport Unions received an update from TfNSW Workforce Relations on Monday 25 May regarding the pending transfer of Sydney based staff to new work locations under the Future Workplaces proposal.

As you know the move to the new Macquarie Park office has been postponed due to the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic. At this stage, no new move dates have been confirmed and staff are continuing to work from home wherever possible.

In preparation for the relocation of a number of Sydney Based staff, work is continuing which includes the plan to vacate sites where leases are ending in 2020. The first of the sites where leases are ending are 12 Help St Chatswood and 22 Giffnock Ave Macquarie Park – these leases end on 30 June 2020.

With the vast majority of people currently working from home there will be limited impact on staff, however in order to vacate the buildings packing activities need to be undertaken.

What members need to know

Staff will be invited to attend the workplace and complete personal/team packing in early June. Arrangements are being put in place to support the packing activities (including packing materials, instructions and bins), and steps will be taken to ensure appropriate physical distancing and compliance with COVID-safe workplace guidelines (including limiting the number of people on site at any time).

Where staff are not able to come in and pack TfNSW people leaders will support staff by making arrangements for items to be packed by alternative means.

Staff will continue to be encouraged to work from home wherever possible, however where an employee is unable to work remotely and needs to attend an office location, the employee will be able to attend an interim office location which will be notified to them through the staff briefings.

Management briefings commenced on 25 May and staff briefings will follow over the next days.
