Change Management Plan: Biodiversity, Conservation and Science realignment
On 25 March 2024 Biodiversity, Conservation and Science (BCS) senior management met with the PSA to brief us on the Change Management Plan, which has been developed for the realignment of staff and management in the department.
The headline issues from the union perspective are:
- There will be no reduction in Award employees
- There will be no regrading of roles
- For most Award employees, there will be no changes to their role
- Most changes that are taking place are only reporting lines, not changes in day-to-day duties
- There will be a reduction of one Senior Executive role – which is a temporary role.
Management relayed to the PSA that the reasons behind the realignment are:
- To better balance workloads at senior level
- Integrate the Credit Supply Task Force into the BCS Group
- Resolve the CST and other staffing arrangements beyond 30 June 2024
- Review the interim reporting lines for the Biodiversity Conservation divisions
- Provide greater opportunities for internal collaboration.
We raised concerns over temporary roles linked to particular funding; and the possibility of higher workloads brought on by the realignment. Both these issues and any others raised by staff will be discussed in detail throughout the process.
The PSA will continue to meet senior management throughout this process. We encourage members to reach out to the PSA if they have any concerns or questions with respect to this realignment.
The PSA will be holding a members ‘meeting 12:30pm-1:30pm Wednesday 3 April 2024
