DEIT Investment NSW Change Management Plan – PSA Members Meeting, Thursday 5 October 2023
Thank you to those members who were able to attend the PSA Members Meeting to discuss the proposed Change Management Plan for Investment NSW. The following is a report back to member’s as the PSA works on compiling feedback to make representations on your behalf as part of the consultation process.
Where is the work going?
Concerns have been raised that the structures that have been provided in the CMP do not adequately address how Investment NSW will manage the retained workload given the substantial number of job losses.
The concern is that the current proposal is significantly under resourced for a body of work that is still required to be done in providing programs that are still required. What assurances can Investment NSW provide that the retained staff will have safe and manageable workloads?
Machinery of Government versus Change Management?
It was asked by members why this was not part of more substantive Machinery of Government for all of DEIT rather than a restructuring of Investment NSW. Historical questions around the Administration Orders establishing DEIT in 2022 and the actual status of Investment NSW resulting from those where it was no longer an ‘Agency’, but a brand was also asked.
Minister for Domestic Manufacturing and Government Procurement
Member’s have also asked as to what engagement has been had with the Minister for Domestic Manufacturing and Government Procurement in relation to this CMP?
Upfront EOI for Voluntary Redundancies and Job Swap Opportunities
The proposed CMP does not currently allow for an upfront EOI for VR Swap opportunities. The PSA will propose that this should be considered by Investment NSW to better facilitate those who want to go versus those who want to stay and to avoid unnecessary bureaucracy and strain on staff having to participate in the recruitment process.
Meetings with Investment NSW and Feedback
The PSA has a meeting with the DEIT Chief People Officer on Wednesday 11 October at 2.30 pm and regular meetings have been scheduled for the remainder of the year while the CMP is in progress.
Again, Members are encouraged to engage with the consultation process and feedback is welcome from all members.
PSA Members Meeting
Prior to the close of the consultation period on 13 October 2023 for those members who were unable to attend on 5 October a further meeting will be held on Wednesday 11 October 2023 at 12.00 pm
