Direction for POVB members
As a result of concerns arising out of the NSW Ombudsman’s Report, the Prison Officers Vocational Branch (POVB) issue this direction to its members.
In short:
“POVB State Executive directs that when performing higher duties, members are not to undertake the hearing of disciplinary charges.”
and
“The POVB State Executive direct that all inmate disciplinaries be initially referred to either the Visiting Justice or NSW Police.”
