ICAC member bulletin – October 2017 (PDF version)
Stewart Little, General Secretary of the PSA, and Nick Player, Industrial Officer, met with Chief Commissioner Peter Hall on 23 October
There have been strong feelings of uncertainty among members at ICAC for some time. At a previous members’ meeting, it was raised that a meeting with the Chief Commissioner would be valuable in developing a communicative and consultative relationship.
The PSA spoke of the stressful period for staff stemming from the significant cuts in the middle of 2016. The Chief Commissioner appeared sensitive to the subsequent impacts on both staff and the organisation.
Whilst the Chief Commissioner has only been on board for a short period, he recognised the skills and loyalty of his staff and spoke of his support for further training and skill development to enhance careers.
He advised he would be conducting a review of the organisation and wished to hear staff views on how the organisation can achieve its aims. Of particular welcome to the PSA were his positive views that the organisation needed more, rather than less, staffing.
The PSA made it clear we are here to support our members and sought communicative relationship to achieve this. The Chief Commissioner recognised the value of this.
The PSA now seeks to hold a meeting of members to further enable us to address any existing concerns with the new management. An invitation to a meeting will go out in the next few days.
