The PSA has been made aware of a request by management for staff to submit a business case if they wish to work during the Christmas closedown.
Staff were given a short window to submit the request for an exemption from the closedown. The submission needed to include reasons, current recreation leave balance, leave taken history, and leave planned for 2023.
The PSA believes the complexity of the requested information should not be needed for staff to request to work during the closure. Your union considers that an email to the direct manager with the request should be sufficient to begin the conversation. We will be raising this with management to understand why they believe they need to have such detail in order to deal with requests to work across the closedown.
