Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions: Workload dispute update

The PSA attended the Industrial Relations Commission (IRC) on 31 March 2022 for a report back to Commissioner Webster regarding the current consultation dispute proceedings, reported on in our last Bulletin to members found HERE.

The PSA earlier filed a case outline and proposed directions indicating that we would be seeking an Award:

  1. enshrining aspects of the Flexible Work Agreement
  2. including a Safe Workload Practice requirement.

We confirm that the proposed steps were discussed with members during the PSA members’ meeting held on 24 March 2022.

The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) objected and said the PSA should file its proposed Award by way of new proceedings and that this dispute had ended, as the proposed Award went beyond the dispute.

The PSA agreed to discontinue the proceedings on the limited basis that we would file a new Award resulting in fresh IRC proceedings. The PSA will now file an application for an Award and seek a timetable for filing evidence. We will provide you with further updates in the near future.
