PSA lodges Judicial Review
As flagged in our previous bulletin, the PSA has now lodged a Judicial Review in the Supreme Court seeking a review of the decision of the Full Bench of the Industrial Relations Commission (IRC) on 7 June 2024 awarding Special Constables a work value increase of only 2%.
PSA calls on NSWPF to grant a salary adjustment without delay
The filing of a judicial review does not stay the IRC decision. Therefore the PSA has filed orders in the Industrial Relations Commission to give immediate effect to the decision to increase salary and salary related allowances by 2% from 1 July 2023.
However, the immediate payment of this increase is being resisted by the Commissioner of Police who prefers to delay and raise technical legal arguments instead of paying the salary increase.
Special Constables Deserve Respect
The decision to lodge an appeal in the Supreme Court against the judgment is a continuation of our fight for fair pay for Special Constables. The PSA is calling on every stakeholder to recognise the calls for fair pay and show Special Constables the respect they deserve.
The only way to join the campaign is to join the PSA. Non-members can join at www.psa.asn.au
