Rural Fire Service: PSA Strike Day of Action

Due to the Government’s refusal to pay Public Sector workers what they are worth, the PSA has directed all members to strike on 8 June.

Despite what you may have been told, Rural Fire Service (RFS) employees who have been directed by their union to strike, can, and should, strike.

However, due to concerns about public and volunteer safety, the following members will be required to work through the strike:

  • Your role means you may be activated to be first response at an emergency
  • Your role is required if volunteers need you for emergency situations
  • Your role is required for the co-ordination of emergencies (such as the OCC).

If you fit any of these descriptions, that doesn’t mean you can’t be involved. Locations where members cannot strike are encouraged to send in your pictures of the team supporting the strike. Th PSA we will be sharing on media and social media – please either send through to your organiser Glenn Duncan or message the PSA on Facebook. If you are using your own social media accounts, the hashtags are #PSApayrise2022 and #Championsofthestate.

The Sydney Rally is being held this Wednesday 8 of June – with everyone to meet at the Fountain in Hyde Park North at 10:00am.

There are other numerous events going on throughout the state if you live and work regionally. Sites can be found HERE.

In a time where your award negotiations are being stalled because of the Government’s wage cap, it is time for RFS members to strike and to show the Government that they are worth more, and that NSW would not run without them.

If you have colleagues who are not members who wish to join in the fight for a better pay and a better public service, they can join online HERE.
