Transport for NSW (TfNSW) has tabled a change which will result in Technical Services (TS) technical and engineering personnel having to undergo compulsory assessment of proficiency. It is the view of the PSA that this procedure is unwieldy and contains several flaws. We have put questions to TfNSW about this procedure – you can find the Q&As HERE.
The PSA is also concerned about how consultation is handled more broadly in Transport. For example, the consultation process for this procedure contained three Q&A sessions in which members reported that questions were screened by TfNSW and not properly answered. The PSA has raised these concerns with TfNSW and will closely monitor how consultation occurs going forward.
We remind members that TfNSW has an obligation to consult with employees in good faith – this includes making sure that workers have access to meaningful information about the nature of the proposed changes.
As always, if you have any questions please contact your Organiser Izzy Maish () or Industrial Officer Latu Sailosi ().
If you know someone who is not a member, let them know that now is the time to join. We are holding a TfNSW-wide meeting on 6 July at 12:30pm. All members and non-members are invited to register HERE.
