Transport for NSW Departmental Committee

In September and December last year the newly elected Transport for NSW (TfNSW) Departmental Committee of the PSA met to discuss a host of important issues.

This committee was established to support the work of the PSA and ensure that members’ interests are best represented. This committee is intended to work alongside our local workplace delegates to bring about favourable outcomes for the membership.

Key items discussed at the first two meetings:

  • ET/CFR Discussion was held around where we were up to with these restructures winding down and how everything is post-stand up.
  • COVID-safe measures being taken by the Department. Delegates provided feedback as to what was being done and what could be done better in these areas.
  • Hybrid ways of working and how this policy will be implemented with staff returning to the workplace.
  • Career transition program. What lies ahead for impacted RMS staff who have not secured a role in the new structure. What can the PSA do for these members?
  • Award negotiations. Delegates assisted the PSA in compiling a log of claims based on the feedback we received in the survey of the membership conducted earlier.
  • Drug and alcohol policy. Delegates assisted the PSA in providing feedback to this proposed policy and identifying key concerns that are held by the membership.
  • Ongoing high workloads have been identified by the PSA as an issue which is affecting large parts of the membership. The committee worked to provide solutions and guide the PSA in what actions it should take in the coming year to try and resolve these issues.
