Late last week your union, the PSA wrote to the department notifying it we are in dispute around the proposed drug and alcohol policy.
The PSA is disputing this policy on the basis that the final procedure and policy did not address the various concerns we raised during the consultation period. The policy and procedure:
- Retains the blanket 0.0 per cent blood alcohol concentration (BAC)
- Does not address how randomisation of the testing will be assured
- Does not protect employees from being targeted
- Has no framework for when support and rehabilitation are provided.
The PSA will continue to keep members’ informed as this process develops.
