Workplace Presence consultation to start next week
The PSA attended a briefing yesterday, Thursday 20 February 2025, with Transport for NSW (TfNSW) regarding the beginning of consultation around the Transport Flexible Work Arrangements Procedure and proposed Way We Work Guide for non-frontline employees.
The briefing was delayed a day at the request of other unions due to actions in Sydney Trains.
Consultation and further details to be released next week
While the briefing was general in nature, and the Unions were not provided with a copy of the draft policy/procedures, we were informed that there would be a live stream on Wednesday 26 February from 10:30am-11:30am to reveal these details to staff. TfNSW staff should have already received a meeting invite to the live stream.
Why is there a change being proposed?
In August 2024, the Premiers Department issued a circular that non-frontline Government Sector employees should work principally in an approved office, workplace or related site. Various Government Sector Agencies (such as TfNSW) are updating their policies and procedures to reflect this Circular.
What are the changes being proposed?
We will have to wait until the live stream to go through the specific details of any changes. However, any proposed changes to the current procedures need to take into account:
- Individual circumstances/responsibilities such as parental responsibilities, or adjustments for disability or illness.
- Consideration of the effect of increased commuting time, particularly those that live significant distance from a TfNSW office.
- The conditions or terms that employees were employed under i.e their contract of employment or job offer letter.
- Reasonable consultation timeframes and transition times.
- The recognition of any written arrangements already entered into.
PSA meetings with members
Once we have all received the information on Wednesday 26 February 2025, the PSA will arrange a number of workplace meetings, which will be held via MS Teams, to discuss feedback on the proposed changes. These will likely be in the week commencing the 3 March 2025, please keep an eye out for details.
