Recently it came to your Union’s attention that court staff required to wear a uniform were not being paid the Uniform Allowance as per the Award.
We quickly raised this with HR who agreed that people were entitled to it. They have agreed:
- To pay Court Officers the Uniform Allowance in accordance with the Award. Note: Court Officers will be required to comply with the policy (i.e. Dress Manual) and wear the allocated uniform.
- Back pay all Court Officers the Uniform Allowance to 3 December 2016 or from when they commenced with the Department.
- The Department will endeavour to contact Court Officers who have left the Department and make arrangements for back payment of the allowance.
- An audit will be done to ensure no other classification who is entitled to the allowance is not being paid it.
This is a great win for uniformed staff at courts, and was only possible due to an active membership within court staff.
