Multicultural NSW Roadshows and PSA members’ meetings: Your union is here for you

Roadshow - Sept 2020 (PDF version)

As members would know your union, the PSA, have been meeting with Multicultural NSW to discuss your employer’s proposal to change the Crown Employees (Interpreters and Translators, Multicultural NSW) Award.

The Award is what governs your pay, conditions and entitlements and protects you as public sector workers. Multicultural NSW wants to make significant changes to your award that could result in reductions in your take-home pay.

Multicultural NSW Roadshows – PSA advises members to attend

The PSA pushed for Multicultural NSW to organise roadshow presentations to inform you and all interpreters and translators about the changes it is proposing and why. It is the responsibility of the employer to advise its workers about cuts it wants to make to pay and conditions.

Multicultural NSW agreed to do these presentations; a win for the PSA and its members.

The PSA encourages all Interpreters and Translators on the Multicultural NSW panel to attend a roadshow – this is your opportunity to be heard!

The PSA will be holding Zoom meetings about the proposed changes to further update members and gather feedback to inform our negotiations.

Only members can provide feedback.

We will be sending out meeting notices to all interpreter and translator members next week.

How you can help the union fight for you!

Please encourage your Interpreter and Translator colleagues to join the union so they can be part of the negotiations, through the PSA, to protect your workplace rights and pay.

This is especially important now when insecure work is skyrocketing and workers across NSW are suffering from the economic effects of COVID-19.

It’s easy to join online or you can download and print our joining form HERE
