PSA and Art Gallery of NSW in Industrial Relations Commission

Dispute - Oct 2020 (PDF version)

The PSA is currently in the Industrial Relations Commission (IRC) with the Art Gallery of NSW over the Sydney Modern Project.

On 8 October the PSA and the Art Gallery of NSW were before the IRC due to the union’s concern that there was a lack of consultation over the Sydney Modern Project.

The Art Gallery advised it was consulting and referred to the Business Plan and other discussions with staff.

The PSA expressed the view that the Business Plan was an overarching documented drafted well over a year ago and that there were now more specific changes occurring which needed to be discussed with the PSA. The union is the representative body of employees as defined by the Industrial Relations Act. Consultation is also a requirement of your Award.

After much back and forth discussion the Art Gallery committed to provide the PSA with a “heads up”, where significant change was intended, with the opportunity for the PSA to provide views and feedback prior to implementation. This is a great result for PSA members.

The PSA and Art Gallery will continue to meet on a regular, as well as at-needs, basis. We have a further report back before the IRC on 9 November.

Members should keep in contact with their delegates and the PSA to keep us up to date and informed regarding you or your colleagues.
