Survey into unpaid overtime

Survey into unpaid overtime – February 2019 (PDF version)

Do you keep working after your shift ends and not receive overtime pay? Are you feeling pressured to start setting up your workstations before your rostered shift? Are you discouraged, or even prevented, from asking for your 10-minute break? The PSA wants to know.

We are currently investigating cases of unpaid overtime within Service NSW. This includes cases where people are being held back talking to customers and told not to apply for overtime after their shift ends, as well as cases of members being ‘informally’ requested to be at work prior to their start time (such as setting up computer stations).

Please fill out the following survey found HERE, and ask your colleagues (union and non-union) to fill out the form, too. We are aiming to have a wide response in order to best gauge interest with this issue.

While we are investigating this issue, the PSA suggests you take note of any overtime you do. This includes what time you start setting up (compared to your actual start time), any overtime you do, and if you receive your 10-minute break or not.

If you are interested in more information on this campaign, or interested in getting involved, please don’t hesitate to contact Kirra at . If you are a non-member who is interested in getting involved in the union, please contact your local delegate to join up, or go to www.psa.asn.au/join.
