PSA wins changes in the disclosure of nature of illness for medical certificates

PSA Wins Changes - April 2021 (PDF version)

Members have raised concerns that managers are demanding medical certificates include the nature of illness in order for sick leave to be approved. The PSA, through extensive negotiation with senior Justice management, has successfully challenged this. This means you will not be required to disclose the nature of your illness on your medical certificate.

Please refer to section 6, 4th paragraph of the procedures HERE which reads,

“When employees are absent for more than two consecutive days but less than one week certificates from a registered health services provider need only state that they are unfit for work.”

If you have any enquiries about the issue, please call the Member Support Centre on 1300 772 679.

Please pass on this bulletin to your colleagues who may not be members and remind them of the benefits of belonging to the PSA. Non-members can join today at www.psa.asn.au/join.
