Service NSW – Haymarket Service Centre Incident

The PSA was advised this morning of a critical incident where a Service NSW employee at the Haymarket Service Centre was attacked by a member of the public. This is one of the worst assaults against a Service Centre NSW employee that the PSA is aware of in the 10 year history of Service NSW and is a reminder of the frontline work that Service Centre employees undertake.

Both the Minister and the Secretary have been in touch with the PSA and we have been assured that all steps to support your colleagues at the Haymarket Service Centre are being undertaken. When events such as these occur, the impact is felt right across the entire public sector and it will be natural for many to feel a range of emotions in response to this and we would encourage you to reach out to your Employee Assistance Provider or other support networks.

The safety of our members in the workplace is one of the most important things that we advocate for, and the PSA will be working closely with Service NSW as they look to address the safety implications from this into the future.
